Description
Preparing an econometrics course takes hundreds of hours: slides, lab sessions that actually run, problem sets, tests and mark schemes whose numbers are right. This econometrics teacher pack does that work for you. It covers a full first econometrics course in 20 chapters, and every chapter is ready to teach. It follows the chapters of the Econometrics Made Simple textbook, and the textbook and its practice book are included, so your students’ reading, your lessons and their homework line up.
What is in every chapter folder
- Editable slides (.pptx): 23 to 24 slides per chapter: starter, key terms, derivations, worked examples, graphs from real and companion data, check-your-understanding questions, code slides (Python with real output, plus R or Stata), a published case study and exit questions. Every slide has teacher notes.
- Lesson plan: two 60-minute sessions, timed minute by minute: Lesson 1 a taught class, Lesson 2 a computer lab, with objectives, slide references, differentiation and common misconceptions.
- Student worksheet and answers: concepts, a by-hand calculation, interpreting regression output, a computer task on the companion data, a real-world problem and an extension.
- Chapter test and mark scheme: 10 multiple-choice questions, two structured questions on printed output and one extended applied question, with point-by-point marks.
- Exit tickets: three short tickets with answers.
Whole-course resources
- Teacher guide: how to plan the course, run the labs (Python, R, Stata or Google Colab) and use the pack with the textbook and practice book.
- Scheme of work: two semesters, with the matching Wooldridge (7th edn) and Stock & Watson (4th edn) chapters for every week.
- Mid-year and end-of-year exams: 2 hours and 80 marks each, with full mark schemes.
- Diagram bank: all 84 graphs and diagrams as PDF, PowerPoint and PNG.
- Data and code: the companion datasets and the book’s Python, R and Stata programs.
Real studies in every chapter
Each chapter teaches with a real published study, checked against the source: Card and Krueger on the minimum wage, Angrist and Krueger on quarter of birth, Duflo on school construction in Indonesia, Bertrand and Mullainathan on CV callbacks, Jensen on mobile phones in Kerala’s fish markets, Pakistan’s remittances from the World Bank, the OBR’s inflation forecasts and more. Every regression number in the pack is computed from the data, and the whole pack was independently reviewed.
